If you suffer from joint, muscle, or tissue pain, you could benefit greatly from manual therapy from one of our physical therapists at RPT.

How is manual therapy different from physical therapy?

Manual therapy a treatment that PTs use, and is a hands-on treatment that includes stretching muscles and mobilization or range of motion exercises for joints that are aimed at decreasing pain.

Anyone experiencing these problems can benefit from manual therapy:

  • Neck Pain: muscle spasm, post-surgical neck pain
  • Low Back Pain: disc pathology, spinal stenosis, post-surgical back pain
  • Thoracic spine/Mid-back Pain
  • Headaches: tension headaches, migraines
  • TMJ Dysfunction
  • Hip Pain: hip bursitis, post-surgical hip replacements
  • Knee Pain: IT band tendonitis, post-surgical knees including total knee replacements
  • Ankle Pain: ankle sprains, chronic ankle pain, ankle arthritis, post-surgical ankle pain
  • Shoulder Pain: rotator cuff injuries, dislocations, arthritis, post-surgical shoulder pain
  • Fibromyalgia

Through manual therapy, combined with other diagnostic measures, your physical therapist will be able to diagnose a number of these problems listed above. Manual therapy requires a therapist to spend extra time in training after school to gain the necessary skills.

Not only does manual therapy help with those experiencing pain, it may also help to increase the healing process involved with injuries. Manual therapy will help to reduce inflammation, increase movement and flexibility, and ultimately enhance your overall health.

“I always find the care excellent and the knowledge of the staff far beyond the level of past therapy clinics. I have continued to return based on prior excellent experience.” -Ed R.
