As the 2020-2021 school year approaches, so does the anticipation for fall sports. When it comes to participation in school sports, proper preparation is the key to success. As sports conditioning begins, physical therapy can serve as additional support in assisting your child to be in top shape for their sport and prevent any potential injuries the season may bring.
How can a Physical Therapist Help?
As your child works with one of our experienced Physical Therapists here at RPT, they’ll learn proper stretches and exercises that increase their flexibility and mobility. Increased flexibility can help prevent stiff and sore muscles which can lead to sport-related injuries. Taping and bracing appropriate body parts prior to tough practices and/or games is a great way to prevent injury.
When injuries occur, it is important to have a trained Physical Therapist examine the injury in order to provide valuable advice on how to treat injuries and help optimize the recovery process. Our Physical Therapists are also trained to know the warning signs and symptoms of concussions, which can put your athlete in danger if not caught promptly. Proper treatment can help your athlete heal quickly and get back to their respective sport, many times at a higher level.
Consider bringing your student-athlete to see one of our Physical Therapists before they start their sport this fall. We’ll work to ensure they’re ready for their upcoming season. To schedule an appointment, give us a call at 801-571-0099.
