At RPT, we are always looking to improve the effectiveness of the treatments we offer our patients. A treatment we provide that produces great benefits is dry needling.

What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a skilled intervention performed by a Physical Therapist that uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points and muscular and connective tissues to reduce or restore impairments of body structure. The technique uses a “dry” needle, one without medication or injection, inserted through the skin into areas of the muscle. The benefits of dry needling include improved pain control, decreased muscle tension, an increase in the range of motion, and restoration in function.

Common Conditions Treated by Dry Needling
Trigger point pain/myofascial pain
Chronic muscle tension/spasm
Tendonitis/tendinosis
Nerve pain
Plantar fasciitis
Scar tissue
Headaches

Life shouldn’t be lived with pain. If you are experiencing any of the above conditions, you could greatly benefit from physical therapy, and very likely from dry needling. When you schedule your appointment with one of our Physical Therapists, they will perform an examination which will include a diagnosis and treatment plan, specific to the pain you’re experiencing.
