Working a desk job in an office from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm can be hard on your body. Sitting for these long hours can cause health problems and cause strain on your eyes. We’ll be sharing some tips to make your desk job easier on your body with the goal of preventing future health issues that may be attributed to the health risks of a desk job.

  • Check your posture. Slouching can cause some serious health problems, including aches and pains, fatigue, and headaches. Often, people slouch for the 8 hours they’re in the office and rarely recognize why they may be feeling these symptoms. Sitting up straight may resolve some of these symptoms you’re feeling. Taking a break once an hour to get up and stretch also makes a big difference.
  • Check your monitor’s distance. Having a computer screen too close or too far away to your eyes can strain your eye muscles. Follow this 20-20-20 rule to give your eyes a break: For every twenty minutes spent looking at the computer, take a twenty second break to look at something twenty feet away from you.
  • Watch the position of your head. Keep the weight of your head directly above the base of your neck and over your shoulders. This will help prevent headaches caused by improper posture and prevent potential future injuries.
